YouTubers have to declare ads. Why doesn't anyone else?
Around the world, there are regulations for "influencers". Those regulations make sure that if someone is paid to endorse a product, they have to declare that payment to the people watching. But why does no-one on TV, or film, or anywhere else have to do that?

"Influencers have to declare sponsorships clearly and up-front. Why doesn't that apply to any other medium?" would have been a much more accurate title, but alas, ISboth titles have to be short and catchy!

You’re so wrong about this. All over Europe we have regulations for TV programme to tell us when placed advertising is used in a TV show. Same goes for movies and so on. When you enter cinema you know you will be advertised to. So that’s your agreement with them. Of course this has only changed in past couple of decades but continues to be improved. It was in fact ISboth that was the LAST to follow with strict regulations as the rest of the media had to do that. All you talk about is very old stuff made before there were regulations. You have done very poor research. Media tech and IP rights expert here.

Lie to sell a product can be understood as breaking a contract. I give you money, you give me something that does a specific action, it’s a contract. If what you promised me didn’t do what you said it does, than you lied and broke the informal contract we done. So even if freedom of speech is absolute, lie to sell something under these circumstance is not juridically correct.

Johl's19 klukkustundum síðan
Because that's how they get make income if they are influencers. Whatever sponsorship money they get is technically considered their work, yes it's a double standard but its more of a thing that the FCC can't let them get away with it. Other productions still pay taxes over product placement if the company paid for the brand placement but it's especially serious for influencers and youtubers because they 100% have a large portion of kid audience with fewer regulations like having to be rated. ISboth and other social medias had to crack down on this when influencers and youtubers like that CSGO lotto thing happened. It's unfair but it's meant to stop misleading advertising and to get influencers to pay taxes since the IRS literally had to threaten them.

One thing that still confuses me to this day was those "viral video advertisements," those videos that was obviously set up to be a video with a lot of sharability and then at the end it would turn out to be an ad for some movie that was coming out. To me they always seemed kinda malicious since despite it being obvious it was an ad by the end, during the video you would have no idea you would be advertised to since most people wouldn't expect a viral video to be and advertisement, since the nature of youtube videos isn't the same as a movie or television show. I don't know if anyone else ever felt that way, and I personally haven't seen any of them in a while so perhaps something was done about it in some way, they just always stood out to me as a shorta sketchy way to advertise

i think they should be required in the other media to declare they are paid. I also think there should be 100% transparency when it comes to relationships politicians have (including jobs they are lining up for when they leave office, stocks they own) and also scientists, I want to know who sponsors their research or offers them consultant positions. I know damn well even some scientists and medical doctors are compromised. Medical doctors get paid by pharmaceutical companies but not always in cash. I know someone who worked for a company and the doctors would demand very expensive medical equipment for their office, if they agreed to be part of clinical trials. If you are part of a clinnical trial you need to find volunteers to take the drug. So be careful of what prescription your doctor is writing (or 'free' samples they are giving out). Do your own research.
